Family skiing holidays in South Tyrol
Winter sports paradise Alpe di Siusi

Family skiing holidays in South Tyrol - Winter sports paradise Alpe di Siusi

The Alpe di Siusi is the largest mountain plateau in Europe, and with the onset of the first snowfall it transforms into an excellent winter sports area. Just 300 meters from the farm Gfinkerhof there is a bus stop from where a free shuttle takes you directly to the valley station of the cable car Alpe di Siusi. On 60 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes you will experience a fun-filled family skiing holiday in South Tyrol, in the heart of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites. The sunny slopes have for the most part a mild to moderate level of difficulty and are ideal for children and beginners. In the local ski school the youngest guests can safely learn how to ski, and the ski kindergartens offer hourly care for small children.

Holiday fun off the ski slopes

Your family skiing holiday in South Tyrol offers a variety of leisure activities in the white powder snow on the Alpe di Siusi. The snow-covered plateau is crossed by a 60-kilometer network of cross-country ski trails. The trails are groomed regularly and take you through glittering snow fields and deep forests. Lots of fun for all ages is guaranteed on the 17 toboggan runs in the alpine region. On the exciting downhill rides on the toboggan you enjoy the view of an overwhelming mountain panorama, which is dominated by the mighty peaks of Mount Sciliar. An illuminated toboggan run at the “Tuffalm” makes this wintry pleasure possible even after dark.

Winter idyll during your family skiing holiday in South Tyrol on the Alpe di Siusi

The fairy-tale landscape of the Dolomites region at Mount Sciliar forms the backdrop for romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides. The riding stables on Alpe di Siusi offer tours of this type. A fun family experience is to participate in a guided snowshoe hike. Like the trappers in North America you will trudge with large snow-shoes through the white powder snow. A varied ski tour takes you to an altitude of over 2,000 meters to the lodge “Plattkofelhütte”. In the solitude of the majestic mountains, you will feel the serene silence in the snowy winter landscape. Romantic moments await you in the villages and cities of South Tyrol during the festive season. Visit the Christmas markets in Castelrotto, Bolzano or Merano and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in the festively decorated streets.

Winter holiday at the farm over Christmas

Winter holiday at the farm over Christmas

A winter holiday at the farm in Völs am Schlern is a very special highlight. The exclusive panoramic view over the snow-covered Dolomites in South Tyrol, the evergreen fir trees and the snowy meadows and fields create pure relaxing moments. From Gfinkerhof after a short trip you will reach the artistic town of Klausen with its medieval Christmas market, a personal tip for Christmas markets-lovers.

Also the near located town of Kastelruth shines in the Advent time around Christmas with a huge offer of delicacies:  from gingerbread and stollen to the mulled wine. Visit the Kastelruther alpine Christmas and get to know the South Tyrolean traditional hand-craft.  Hand-crafters of all kind manufacture for you fulled, crochet works from Sarn, as well as wooden and nativity figures. Have a walk with your beloved ones through the romantic town and visit the Christmas concert of the Kastelruther Spatzen. After an intensive walk in the evening you can come back to Völs am Schlern at the Gfinkerhof, where you can end the day with a chocolate cup and already think about the next adventurous ski day of the Seiser Alm.
